RE: Transfer rumours - Kengreen - 07-01-2021

Well said Darren that's the spirit I feel the same as you on this one, happy to finish 17th no way. This is going back to the old days ( we are what we are little old Gloucester). We are in a position we have never been in before top of the table, still Bookies joint favourites and we are throwing the towel in because a few mercenaries have jumped ship. The players we have lost were all top paid so should be replaced like wise.I for one and many other supporters didn't buy season tickets and bricks in walls to be also rans again. (Rant over, for now)

RE: Transfer rumours - T-End is in sight - 07-01-2021

I don’t for a moment imagine we are ‘throwing the towel in’ but just reminding everyone of the original objectives and the need to manage expectations.

Hopefully we’ll remain competitive, but there is no certainty in football that we’ll get the players we’d want or at the right price. The situation is ever changing with COVID and I think it’s really unfair on those ‘footing the bills’ to make demands about what must be achieved.

I for one (and hopefully many other supporters) bought a season ticket to enjoy football at NMP with the hope that we’d have a more successful and enjoyable season than previously. I was not expecting / demanding promotion.

RE: Transfer rumours - GME - 07-01-2021

Well said T-End totally agree just being competitive is important, anything else is a bonus

RE: Transfer rumours - Pims manager again - 07-01-2021

Cannot agree GME, if you start any season with the aim of just staying in the league we might as well drop a couple of leagues, gain promotion again to achieve the status quo.
At the beginning of the season all the signed and contracted players were I assume all within the set budget,
Some have gone which suggests that their wages will still be there to fund incoming players salaries unless the budget has been cut.
I don’t think there is any more demand on the players than we as supporters expect and to be top is I guess an unexpected bonus.I think it shows that quality players bring the right results hence we are top, that’s why the discontent shown on this forum about the departures.
It’s rare to see City top, the Cleric would have to get the starts out to see the last time we were.

Last week, Pims. Smile

RE: Transfer rumours - SHANDY LOVE MACHINE - 07-01-2021

Not necessarily my view but it might be considered that the season will be abandoned if things get much worse and rather than bring in players on contract who won't play then money might be better used to mount a challenge for next year and balance the books for this . Confident that our goal of 17 and solvency has been met.

Not my preference but also not
my money .

What a dilemma

I am as confident as I can be that the season won’t be abandoned. We might see a pause in the season but it will be completed one way or another.

It’s all coming to a head regards funding too, with the NL-Independent Panel findings, next tranche of grants/loans that have yet to be decided on...
We could do with a win in the FAT on the 16th to get some more cash in!

RE: Transfer rumours - Alex Petheram - 07-01-2021

We currently have zero grants for January ... all these clubs signing big wages now are mad. If we've players that want to move on as others are prepared to do big deals then that's up to them ... We've interest in Gav Gunning ... other then that ... only new arriveals and as I've said time and time again ... I won't put this club at risk.

Funny isn't it ... when I was signing "big names" ... I was hammered for so say gambling, spending massive money, splashing the cash etc ... I denied it and stated it was within our model etc etc ... now i'm getting the other end of that same stick ... we should push on to win the league, we aren't doing anything to keep these players etc etc ... Maybe we don't have a clue what we're doing ... maybe we do ... but I feel what we have done has thus far worked ... we're not bankrupt and we're top of the league ... yes, some want to leave ... they are getting crazy offers or just causing issues to get out ... what do you want me to do ... let people play up, walk over the club, waste money fighting them and prove a point with them ... still for them to not play ... or double people wages to keep them, which will keep them happy for what 6 months ... or do what i feel is best for this CLUB ... managing what we have got and adding players that want to be here ... Accepted, I've never known times like this ... but when where we last top of the league to know is this is normal ... as let's face it ... ever player has gone up a league so far ...

January is a nightmare month ... but Paul will not panic or rush to sign players.

On Barnet ... still not had my expectations met yet for Liam, so he's not yet left.
