Totally agree AP and an excellent insight to what goes on behind the scenes. Not sure hard work beats talent tho.

RE: Transfer rumours - Alex Petheram - 08-01-2021

The league below is a bit of a red herring .... so many of them ... or at least the players we would want to take ... are on professional contracts, same as we issue at Elite sport level ... so we can't duel reg them ... they can't get out of the contract as their parent club has furloughed them ... imaged the fight to get out the contract ...

Option 1)

Player ... "I refuse to play, i'm injured"

Club ... "You can't play anyway"

Option 2)

Club ... "I refuse to pay you"

Player ... "You aren't anyway"

So ... unless clubs release players out of the goodness of their hearts ... the player better keep fit with Joe Wicks!

It does if talent doesn't want to try!

@Alex - thanks once again for your honesty and candour. I find the running of non-league clubs quite fascinating as it’s not all ‘glitz and glamour’ as the papers would have you believe.

I remember watching the Sunderland documentary on Netflix and thinking that the first season was nothing short of a car crash. Then the new owner came in and made the Chief Exec. (at the helm in Season #1) look like a genius given some of the decisions he made.

I’d love to see a non-league version of that show.

There really isn't any glitz or glamour ... normal people spinning lots of plates ... anyone (within reason) can buy a football club and try and run one ... so you only learn though mistakes! I've made a hat full!

Success is not final, failure is not fatal ... it's the courage to continue that counts ... or as my Dad says ... if you're riding a push bike, at one point you will fall off, just fall off into a hedge, rather then into the road!

Gunning off to Chesterfield with the pied piper too?

It’s all well and good players wanting to follow a manager, but let’s say Ipswich get fed up of Paul Lambert, and approach Rowe- he’s a good coach and no doubt has a good future ahead of him; but he’s gonna jump ship and not take any of this lot he’s tapping up with him.

This would cause a war ... as I would report it to the FA and instruct lawyers ... my heart would rule my head on that if it happened ...

Im the same , find it very interesting aswell , My Dad used to say to me “If you could study football as a subject you would be Einstein”Agree a fly on the wall documentary would be a good watch im not sure many clubs are like Gloucester city Fc!

RE: Transfer rumours - Nigeglos - 08-01-2021

Believe me ODG, many many Ipswich fans fed up with Lambert. Recently thought of as the most unhappy club.
The club cannot beat any of the too 8 sides.
When Glos best Chester, that made me think we were the real deal.

Exactly Nige, and Rowe’s hometown.

To be fare Rowe has not won a thing yet in his career.
If Chesterfield win promotion to the EFL then maybe but that's a while off.
