It's not untrue that they were built on the fallout at Blackpool and now that that's resolved everyone has gone back to Bloomfield Road.

they were called Kirkham and Wesham (a village near Blackpool) until moneybags came in and changed them to AFC Fylde.

Seems like the voting papers have not even gone out yet. The National League have got themselves into a right mess over all this. Despite what Alex said in his blog about it costing £65k isn't true according to the Havant manager and it would be a lot cheaper than that. I knew Maidenhead would be safe, but I had no idea by by how small a margin it was. I think this is one of the reasons why the NL don't want to promote two sides from step 2. They talk about a September restart but I get the feeling we could still be trying to sort this season out by come September.

You also suggested in the region of £60k Darran

That post was taken from Twitter so they weren't my words. That's the figure the NL have been quoting in an attempt to make it seem too expensive. By all accounts it wont cost anywhere near that much.

Well clearly not by all accounts is it

Way I see it, only 7 of the NLN want playoffs ( those who would be involved), surely if the other 15 vote against that means the 4 votes given to the two regional leagues go in the against column. Guess most of the NL will be happy to end season and vote against. Problem solved. Waste of time.

Well the NL are lying. From memory I think Gateshead wanted null and void at the start of all this, but that's so long ago now I might be wrong. My guess is Gateshead don't have any spare cash to spend on it so don't want the play-offs.

As it stands play-offs for Step 2 isn't on the table as the NL said they weren't allowed to happen because of government guidelines although it seems the NL have interpreted them wrongly.

Are they? Given that costs for staging the EFL League 2 playoffs are estimated to be £200-300k I don’t see that ~£60k is a gross overestimate at all.

It is suggested the figure is actually £25k which sounds more realistic for a NLN/S club.
