RE: Chorley - Prorsum Semper - 05-09-2021

Spot on Charlie but I can't get my head around how PG didn't know this league,he's had a long long time to watch a lot of videos of games from this league he should know it well,he should even know pretty much everything about every team and most players,I think his mindset is way higher up the pyramid as he also touched upon during the Kettering post match info which made me think whys he talking about the premier League in an NLN interview.
I'm all for ever forward but the past can be useful and looking at the side JR built should have gave us some clues of what's needed,it's about getting the balance right in terms of tici taca football and the physical side.
We used to sign young kids from league clubs as that worked with our budget, things have changed, they should be the ones coming in to fill gaps during the season.
The board have a simple decision to make in my eyes, they either come out and back PG and revise in 20 games or its bye bye and start looking for a manager with experience at the lower levels who has had some success aswell.

He signed him on loan no? If that was the case the budget at the time probably dictated.

I'd love to know what Groves did during the months off we had because it would appear to me like he did very little.

He signed him for Chippenham but came to us before he played

He may not had signed him if he had a bigger budget for Chippenham, that's what I'm trying to say.

RE: Chorley - Neil - 05-09-2021

Whatever happens this mess isn't going to sort itself out overnight. The biggest problem for me is that all of these players are new or newish to the club and if we do it again we'll just be in the same place but a few months down the line.

Whatever you think about Rowe he knew the type of player that was needed and he had the ability to go out and sign them. You need a manager who knows players. I don't think we have that in Groves. If the DoF is responsible for signing players then it's not Groves' fault that we've ended up with an ineffective squad especially considering that the better players were signed by James Rowe.

We need to get someone like Gary Johnson in ASAP.

I may be wrong but didn't he join us when Daley? He was meant to fill the gap, he only came as we offered him full time whilst Chippenham couldn't. They certainly thought a lot of him at Chips.
We certainly haven't replaced Daley since he left.

RE: Chorley - RJS - 05-09-2021

There is a lot of why didn't PG know the league type comments. I actually don't think that will be the case he come across as to meticulous for that for me (although there is probably a case for some of that perfectionism to be replaced by pragmatism), i think he probably did know the league but thinks he can play good enough football to overcome that. Currently that's looking a bit naive. I do have some time for it though as I'd personally rather watch that type of football (totally get that it's a personal preference though re styles of play).

RE: Chorley - Andrew R - 05-09-2021

I don’t see how PG can survive this. He’s got a large budget, a full-time playing squad, together with an expectant fan base.

I think his time is up.

RE: Chorley - Prorsum Semper - 05-09-2021

Yes he did, like I said at a part time outfit he would probably be well thought off but we can get better players now than before having a better budget and being FT,at least the new players are mainly only on 1 year contracts, lats not forget at least 8 are from last season's team the problem being mostly all are out injured.

RE: Chorley - charlie - 05-09-2021

Something else that’s stunned me is how not one player or Groves himself has come out to say anything.

They’re completely responsible for what happened yesterday and their silence could be mistaken for not caring.
