RE: NLN Watch - Citygull - 01-11-2022

Tonight's results see us slip to 5th, hardly a drama. Brackley move to second with a fourth straight win at home to Peterborough whilst Darlington resume normal service with a 4-1 win at Telford, where Kevin Wilkin must be wondering why he ever left Brackley. Another good result for Scarborough moving to 4th by beating Kidderminster 4-2.

Yes he was. News was announced at the same time we sacked Mansell.

Interesting article on Facebook ( unable to copy across sorry) published in the Peterborough Telegraph in relation to Peterborough Sports FC - short of money - currently under a transfer embargo for not paying the VAT bill etc.
I think we need to be grateful for what we have.

I saw them asking for new investment. Thought it was to push on rather than pay what they owe. Are there any self-sustaining football clubs anywhere?

RE: NLN Watch - Darran - 05-01-2023

Peterborough have clearly cheated their way up the league's as they haven't been able to afford the wages paid to do so. No good moaning they have to improve the ground either as the rules are very clear and all clubs at this level should have a 3000 capacity anyway as there as some big teams at this level and if you need to host a play-off match then you will need that sort of number. I have little sympathy for clubs like this who have got themselves into trouble via their own doings.

No I think is the answer - you almost become a financial victim of your own success. An example of which is Kings Lynn where promotion to the National League almost did for them. The figures don’t matter but if it costs £450,00 to run a club at NLN level you could probably add another £250,000 to that for National League. Problem is your incomings get no where near the extra expenditure.

I think I remember in that “Gate Money “ documentary they said that clubs with a benefactor were almost always in a stronger position than the fan-owned clubs.

Josh Gowling has left Hereford.
