RE: NLN Watch - Darran - 21-04-2023

They were promoted to SL Prem last season, their highest ever level, somewhat unexpectedly, as their playoffs were both away. They had a good start to the season, and although fell away, they have maintained Premier status. It can be done.

Of course it can, but the step up from 4 to 3 isn't that great and very often clubs will see a bit of a boost of getting promotion as Hanwell did. Going from Step 2 to Step 1 is much tougher unless you have the backing

Agreed, but got to remain positive. ?

I like to be realistic and then if we do better than that then it will feel even better.

Be interesting to see a comparison with the NLN, to see how many more away fans you could expect on average over the 23 home games.
Exactly. Away support would boost ticket sales at home. Banter back and forth at games, without toilet paper rolls and trash bin lids being thrown should increase people's desire to attend games.

RE: NLN Watch - Daveangel - 21-04-2023

Surely it would equate to an extra 200 on average, even if the home crowds remained static.
Using the formula that our new owners have spoken about, that could lead to another couple of grand on the wage budget.

I love the way we’re all discussing the pros and cons of life in the NL when we haven’t even yet made the play offs. Smile

We'll, we're thinking about it - probably something we've not thought about previously. Beats the perennial relegation struggle conversation!

RE: NLN Watch - HeathBrewer - 21-04-2023

I think it's great most of us are focused on how to ensure the potential promotion is maintained for years to come. Better than focusing on the negative. ?

Got to agree wholeheartedly with that.

RE: NLN Watch - Paul - 21-04-2023

I said if we get promoted to NL there are no village teams up there - but looking at the size of Dorking's population I was wrong...17,000 population. Presumably, they get a lot of interested local punters watching them.

And Marc White’s wallet.
