He spends most of his time in Toronto, Tim Horton's will have to do.

RE: NLN Watch - Darran - 09-05-2023

There has been suggestions that if/when they get promoted that they will pump serious cash into the side.

It's a tiny place in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't make sense. A bit like FGR, Fylde, Rushden & Diam...

Crazy really when you think of a few things; there's that old adage about if you want to be a Millionaire then you should start as a Billionaire and buy a football club.

Then there's the more pressing issue about who is going to support it. I mean, I love that we've faced the likes of Torquay, Stockport and next year Scunthorpe but while these traditional league sides languish at this level crap like Forest Green and C********m have replaced them. Remember when we played at home to Cardiff in the FA Cup? How many did they bring? Remember when we played at home to Fleetwood in the FA Cup? How many did they bring?!!

I get your point Neil and agree with you about where these vanity clubs draw their support from, but on the basis of C********m and FGR replacing so called traditional clubs, we shouldn't be allowed to progress either. They were only traditional league clubs because at one time they couldn't fall out of league football and there was a glass ceiling to non-league.

I find it amusing to read the forums of some former EFL and phoenix clubs, some of whose supporters think they're too big to be at this level. I don't particularly like what Brackley represent, but funny when they knock out the likes of Chester, when some on their forum seemed to take it for granted that promotion was in the bag.

We are a City of 150,000 people. C********m is a massive council estate with a few posh shops and a racecourse. I don't even know what the **** a Forest Green is.

The population of C********m is over double that of Torquay.

They will have to as Kings Lynn found a couple of seasons ago. Exact figures don’t matter but if it costs £1/2 million to run the club in NLN then you could easily add another 40-60% on top of that being in the NL. - increased travel - new players/ higher wages etc Whilst your share of the PL hand out is increased you need someone with a big cheque book to make up the shortfall as there is a limit to how much season tickets sponsorship will bring in.
Its almost a disincentive to get promoted.

Need to go on official ONS stats. As of 2021, C********m's population is 118, 866; Torquay's is 139,300 (Gloucester 132,500).

Forest Green is an estate in Nailsworth, population around 6000 and on population size the club representing the estate should be playing at no more than Hellenic League level...I once sat in the old stand at Brimscombe watching a game there, with who turned out to be three former FGR players..reminiscing about playing Matson! Beggars belief that any of these vanity clubs should succeed.

Sorry Paul, but Dave is closer, Torquay is 69k but TORBAY is 139k which includes Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and is a Borough a bit like Tewkesbury B.C having some of Gloucester and C********m in it to justify its existence!
