Yes, sorry, you're right - I was looking at Torbay (although to be fair they probably draw support from that whole area).

RE: NLN Watch - Si Robin - 09-05-2023

Should probably include Tewkesbury and Gloucester in with C********m's potential crowd then given we draw support from the whole area... Big Grin

Exact figures don’t matter but if it costs £1/2 million to run the club in NLN then you could easily add another 40-60% on top of that being in the NL. - increased travel - new players/ higher wages etc Whilst your share of the PL hand out is increased you need someone with a big cheque book to make up the shortfall as there is a limit to how much season tickets sponsorship will bring in.
Its almost a disincentive to get promoted.

Sometimes don't you wish that everyone would just stop and take a breath? Why does the whole structure need to continue with this continual running on a treadmill approach? Why can't they all get together agree to a reality check and try to live within their means and move on from there.

I know why. Because there will always be a Flybe.

No self-respecting Gloucester born person would ever go over to the dark side...

Anyone who comes from Gloucester to support them should be refused entry back into the City.

Having been "invited" in the past to watch Gloucester egg chasers on more than one occasion I can say with confidence that a sizeable portion of the crowd live in C********m, quite what that says about who Gloucester people do watch is anyone's guess!

The sad thing is, whether it's Gloucester, C********m, or Stroud (if we take that as FGR's manor) probably a substantial amount of people follow PL teams, and wouldn't dream of going to watch their home town club. I daresay if C********m were playing Manchester Utd at home in the FA Cup, half of the crowd from C********m would be supporting the Manchester team.

RE: NLN Watch - Si Robin - 09-05-2023

That is the sad fact unfortunately. Even with 5,000 home fans that we had against FGR there was still a smattering of Premier League shirts among the crowd.

As has always been the case in Gloucestershire, it's a fallacy that rugby is king. I have no doubt that more people watch football in this county, just that the majority of them are quite happy paying their Sky subscriptions, or using their dodgy box, to watch what's going on at Old Trafford instead of taking a trek down to Whaddon Road, Meadow Park or even The New Lawn.

RE: NLN Watch - Delta Papa - 09-05-2023

Si Robin - as a City supporter since 1954 (true - I was 10!), with the exception of one or two seasons back in the Southern League City have hardly ever got the better of C********m (league-wise) at any time. So what's CTs secret? Players, coaches, managers, owners, money etc etc, how do C********m do it? Back in the 50s/60s I don't think there was hardly any difference in GC & CTs attendances.

To even it up a bit though - Gloucester and C********m used to play each other twice per season at rugby, where are they now....?

Oh, and contrary to some on this forum, I do accept that C********m Town are now a proper EFL club on merit (unlike FGR for example!).

RE: NLN Watch - Neil - 09-05-2023

Not for long. When I win the lottery I'm going to buy C********m Town install that Hungerford manager and get him to take them all the way to the bottom division in the Bristol Downs League. Let's see how many wankers from Gloucester want to go and watch them then.
