Southport’s boss becomes the first managerial casualty of the new season after 3 straight losses leave them at the bottom of the table.  Although their form at the end of last season was terrible, so he was probably already in the last chance saloon.

Apparently he was on the board of directors anyhow so was unsackable.

Bit of a left field one:

There’s a series on iPlayer called “Boot Dreams”, where a group of released pro players join an intensive boot camp led by former pro Gifton Noel Williams. They play a series of matches in front of scouts in the hope of getting trials or a contract.

The NLN connection is that in the 4th episode, they play Curzon Ashton. It gets a bit tasty!

Overall, it’s a pretty good series, I’d recommend it.
