I watched the live stream of the original meet and greet, and I don't recall any mention of a £100m business. Is this actually legit?
I don't think they've ever been anything but upfront about the level of investment they were going to make. They've made no bones about reduced budgets and living within our means etc. You can disagree with that approach but I think its disingenuous to suggest they've not been true to word on budgets IMO.
For me I think they've got the vast majority of decisions spot on since they've been in charge. The problem is the one they got wrong was the managerial appointment, and that's the one that is going to continue to haunt them if we do go down.

Absolutely agree with this

They may also have got the 2nd managerial appointment wrong as well. I agree with you on the £100m stuff as I don't ever remember that being mentioned and I watched the stream as well.

The quality of the players is what I question. It seems to me poor managerial decisions in this area have led us to where we are. Cook had to work with what we have. If the players aren't good enough, or up to accomplish what the manager wants to put into place, you can replace manager after manager and get the same results. From my reading, it seems the Chambers have TF a money amount and he recruited the team. That seems to have failed from the start. We were still trying to solidify a squad after preseason. I blame that on a manager without the ability to recruit quality, not management.
Am I wrong?

I have some sympathy with TF and recruitment, in that very few managers at this level have to put together a squad entirely from scratch, and for reasons discussed a lot that really isn't the Chambers' fault either. Whilst the amount of trialists, and uncertainty of the squad in pre season was therefore not ideal, I thought it was understandable. To an extent I expected a slow and difficult start, but you would hope there would be progress as things bedded down, he got a core of players together to build on etc that things would kick on. I don't think we were ever going to look a fully coherent NLN team from day 1.
The big issue though for me was that once we got to day 1, we then stayed the same dreadful to watch team week in week out, and there was no signs of improvement, or any discernible style of play other than lumping it very long very often. So in hindsight recruitment almost certainly wasn't good enough (although I still think style of play is making some of those players look worse than they actually are), but unlike some others who were saying it was terrible at the time (and fair enough they were right), I thought it was quite hard to judge during pre season due to the circumstances we found ourselves in.
I hate sacking managers early in their tenure's, and I was on record saying that I wouldn't have sacked either PG or LM at the time they were sacked, but with TF it had to happen unfortunately, you can accept god awful boring football if it brings some results, but unfortunately the results were equally atrocious.
Whether Mike Cook is the right man to turn it around only time will tell, but things do need to pick up fast or we will be cut adrift.

IMO you are spot on . I would only qualify that by saying a modest but perfectly logical budget (ie £100 in £100 out not £100 in £150 out ) only gets you what you can afford.

Fantastic own goal at Chorley last night

One for the refs though, if the keeper had saved it, he should've been sent off IMO. I don't know what the rules are but that would count as deliberate handball and preventing a certain goal.

lovely to watch an unpleasant keeper named after a road in C********m conceding 8 goals. Thanks for sharing Neil, that’s cheered my up today.
