Mark Jones was given a little longer than TF was but the circumstances are very similar. When he joined the previous manager Andy Whing ( who went to Solihull Moors) had had a settled squad for sometime but with Whings departure many players went elsewhere meaning Jones had to as we did start from scratch. A  fact highlighted in their official club statement..

Big game tonight down the bottom, Banbury hosting Darlington. Hopefully they both lose. Is Darlington winning the best result?

RE: NLN Watch - Neil - 30-01-2024

Kevin Wilson just appointed as their new manager. According to wikipedia he hasn't managed for eight years. Don't these jobs have loads of applicants as well as a few who'd done well on Football Manager?

I’d say so, or maybe a draw. To get out of this we need to chasing those above us. If our points total has us fighting those below us I think we’re done for!

Not going to plan with Banbury 2-0 up and Darlo down to 10 men

I think if games in hand are worth anything then Rushall will be the team parping as they look over their shoulders.

And how are Tamworth so good this year? They've just beaten Scunthorpe. 12 points clear.

That was a Flashscore error Darlington didn't have a man sent off.

I thought Tamworth did very well tonight and deserved the win. Don't think anyone saw them winning the title before the season. Scunthorpe could be in trouble if they don't go up this season as I don't think they can afford their current squad.

RE: NLN Watch - Neil - 30-01-2024

How much are they paying them then? Well over 5000 there tonight, that's probably £65k over the turnstiles alone.

That squad would have cost a fortune to put together and the new consortium who took them over just don't have the sort of money the previous owner was happy to spend. Back in November they were even saying they weren't certain they could afford the rest of the season. Getting crowds like that would help, but no doubt a few of those there would be season ticket holders.

I have just seen the guy who works for the Kings Lynn local paper say that Scunthorpe's weekly wage budget is £25k.
