Which was your first game supporting Gloucester? - Caerloyw - 19-11-2021

Mine was Bradford Park Avenue, a few weeks ago. We all have to start somewhere as a fan of Gloucester City FC.

A game that could've been 3-0 on another day... fine margins in football.

Onwards and upwards.

Mine was Gloucester vs Yeovil Town in January 1991, which we won 1-0. Jason Eaton scoring the winner. I can still see the goal clearly in my head even though I was only a child at the time.  My dad took me to the game largely I think because his family were from Somerset.  We went to a few games that year.  My dad passed away several years ago and my childhood memories of watching City became more precious so I was keen to start going again once we returned home. I think it's great we have so many new fans, so grateful for everyone involved in bringing us back to Gloucester.

My first game was 1st January 1994, GCAFC Vs C********m Town at Meadow Park, (Southern League Premier Division). I was stood in what is now the T-End side of the ground. I can remember the view of C********m Town supporters behind the other goal.
We lost this match 3 -  1. Strangely enough, my first away match was in April (I think) 1994. Away to C********m Town at Whaddon Road, (Southern League Premier Division). C********m were going for the league, and we won 1 - 0.

Great to see so many new and returning fans, and new members of the cof, I hope you are made to feel welcome

Im sure mine was 1967 at Horton Rd v Merthyr- followed by every home game of the he promotion season under Ian McKintosh with John Stevens Bob McCool et all. Apart from when work wouldn’t allow haven’t missed many home games since plus loads of away jaunts.
There is no cure apparently….

What a great question. That got me reaching for the history book! The one I remember it was v Nuneaton Borough and the history book tells me it was 27/2/1982. City lost 2-0. I lived in the Forest at the time and had no car. So a trip to watch a match involved an early start, a walk through the woods to the bus stop and on the #24 bus to the bus station and then a walk up to Horton Road. Buses to the Forest were few and far between so I always had to leave early in the 2nd half to get the last bus home (or otherwise be stuck hanging around in Gloucester for ages and a couple of mile walk when back in the FOD). A few years earlier my parents moved the family up from Yeovil where my Dad and I used to watch Yeovil play at the old Huish. Nuneaton had a lad who played centre half for Yeovil (Harrison I think his name was) and in truth I think going to see him play was the draw. I don't remember too much about the game; I remember thinking the mud bank and corrugated iron of Horton Road was a long way from Huish! I remember getting pushed around a bit outside the ground by some yobs too!! I think I went to a few other games that season, certainly the SL Cup Final, but the novelty of long days to watch half a match soon wore out and I lapsed

Went to one game as child, 7th Feb 1998, lost 4-1 to FGR, then when I moved back to Gloucester after uni, went to a game on 22nd Oct 2011 - 4-0 win v Blyth Spartans and became a regular soon after.
