Surely a good run in the Trophy is a big positive? Both for the budget (it may get some more bodies through the gate, plus the prize money for each match won) and the publicity generated. It's a far more realistic target than a good run in the FA Cup.

You’re far better off with an average run in the Cup than a great run in the Trophy moneywise.
Play offs are only bettered by a fantastic FA Cup run.
