It's always raining somewhere it seems!

Listen to Patrick's recent You Tube where this topic was covered as I recall.

I'd like to hear some news on player retentions. IMO it's vital we retain as many of last season's squad as possible. Appreciate Patrick said some players are on hols etc but would be a disaster if they all left.

Agree with some that JP needs to have improved since his last time with us, Seemed to go missing in games to many times,Upto TF and Yan to get the best out of him.

For me it very much depends on what gets signed on top of this.  If signing some of the better players from our past is part of the plan then all well and good, if signing better plans from our past is THE plan then I think alarm bells would start to go off.

I guess we just need to hold tight for now and see what transpires.

Totally agree with that, I'm reserving full judgment on the recruitment until we start the season but I have to admit your second sentence is creeping into my mind.

Very interested to see who we are going to retain, and who new is going to come in who we don't already know.

Morning,

Just saw a couple of comments about retentions to go with the new signings, Patrick gives a good insight regarding the current situation here

Worth remembering that some of these lads have had more success since they left City than we’ve had since they left. Chippenham qualified for the playoffs in the NLS and made the FA Cup Second Round. We would give our right arms for that. There’s a lot to be said for happy players playing in front of happy fans.

I think the same, and a lot of the time you dont with things with just 11 talented players( PSG) also takes work rate, Desire and passion which we know a Fair few of these players have.

I think the overview of retentions made by Patrick is certainly a leveller in terms of expectations.
Paying players to stay in hotels over night plus what must have been heavy travelling expenses just isn't and wasn't sustainable given where we are as a club. It just goes to show just what some clubs at this level must be spending and the owners with very deep pockets.
It looks like we might get a few of the more local lads retained but I think we should expect a completely new team come the new season, at least a fair few will have played together last season in the Chippenham contingent!

Yep, a whole new team from scratch will struggle to hit the ground running. I think our best chance of keeping anyone are the ones from south Wales. They only really have Merthyr, WSM and Hereford as alternatives.
