Asante

According to JP he's left. I wouldn't be surprised if his source for the past week has been someone who rhymes with Rames Jowe.

When Asante joined it because because he was "excited by this project." It's a shame he's gone because he was starting to turn into a good player, although the first 3/4 matches he was anonymous. He'll probably do a good job for them, it's a bit sad, but he's replaceable.

I'm more concerned that he's "left" rather than been transferred. Surely he's contracted to the club?

Now that is a real shame - probably the best striker to play for us in a long time with an unbelievable work-rate in attack and defense. Not in easy one to replace, especially during the season!

Yes agreed - some of the communications coming out are a little 'loose' in their wording. I have no doubt that we would have managed to get quite a nice little sum out of Chesterfield for those two - somewhere between £75k and £125k would be my guess given they were both on two year contracts!

This may be sour grapes from me or it might be because I've only watched the games on the stream this season but I haven't seen anything from Asante this season that Marlon Jackson didn't give us last season.....I'm sure if Marlon was in this team he would get around 20 goals this season.

"As a part of the agreement, Chesterfield have confirmed that no other contracted Gloucester City players will be approached."

Perfect, time for a new manager to come in and we'll carry on the promotion run!

No, there's something about the reputation of a player that adds extra.
Saying that, has anyone got Mo Diop's number? I'll provide the deodorant.

A good lesson in not believing any of the PR rubbish put out about players being 'excited about the project'.

Hope we have some number 9 shirts without 'Asante' printed on the back...

Which is what I said at the time and got shot down for saying he was only here for the money. No doubt he has been a big part of our run so far this season, but he's clearly a player concerned about one thing.

Well done to Alex for putting in the clause that no other player can leave and I am sure we got a hefty fee for him.

What I'd love to see - us roll over Chesterfield in the FA Trophy at home when the fans are back.
