Were they down as trialist then and as Bernard haven't played for four months shouldn't he have had an operation in closed season and was Fabian down as a trialist.

Someone said the delay for Bernard had something to do with the Watford physio being on England duty.

That was bloody hot out there. My forehead is going to suffer tonight.

Superb goal by Jordan Young, easily 35 yards and I think it was Bartlett who got the second.

Was it Ioan Richards at the back again?

I don't think we'll be signing players like Asante again for this season. Hope PG can mould a decent team, looks like Young will be playing between midfield and attack. He likes a shot.

I didn't see Noah but he was rumoured to be at the game! Considering the blistering heat and numerous substitutions this was a very watchable game with the hosts, who are no mugs, comfortably seen off. Solid performances from our "old pros". We stuck to a passing game, changing our formation according to who was on the pitch at the time! JT looked very assured in a holding role in midfield, caused trouble a couple of times when going forward. JJ gave a typical strong running adventurous display. Good to see Fab looking lively, hopefully the ribs have finally knitted together! Jake Cole had a run out too and oozed class: very commanding. Jordan Young's goal was a cracker, from open play but similar to his famous free kick, dipping late and clipping the bar on its way in. Some of the many triallists looked promising and still have a chance to impress, in particular the young keeper who started the game made some excellent saves and his distribution seemed fine. But, especially with Bernard out, we do need a partner/back up for Matt McLure.

He was born the day before a very good FA Cup win at Tiverton for those who can remember those dark days

Just to clear up some questions.

I'm not sure who told you Bernard had to go to Watford Neil ... that's not correct. He had his operation (£6.5k opp plus £2.7k in scans and fees - so we really need him back playing and scoring) .... 2 weeks ago. He had a number of specialist visits with different docs and scans ... it's taken an age but sadly it was a process, as it was hoped it wouldn't need the final opp ... as that was a pretty big one ... he'll be out of his cast in 10 days or so. Due back say 6 weeks from now, but now we've Dr Niall inhouse we can do the rehab ourselves.

Noah is training with us ... he offers from two other clubs in the south, but he wants to come to us. He's trailing as all the others are. He wasn't involved today as he had a sickness bug in the week. He'll be around on Wednesday ... but we've a large number trailing ... 20ish ... We had 3 keepers playing today during the game ... clearly not all at once ... and in truth ... 3 complete different 11's.

Fabien played and yes, looked fit with some great touches.

If Fab can find le magique again then it will be like having a new player

It's one of them 1% truth stories ... he's really close with his old club doc and he did get him to review the scans etc ... but it was all as third/ forth set of eyes as a favour to Bernard. Not part of the decision making process.
