The other issue local clubs have is the big clubs (WBA, Villa, Leicester) having their satelite teams in the area picking players up from the youth teams. I started coaching u10s last year and my club had 3 teams for our age group. We've had to fold one of those teams this season because their parents think their kids are playing for the huge clubs when in effect they're as close to the actual clubs as they are with us.

My cousin, who's just started playing for City u21s, was playing for a WBA team a few years ago and they were getting beat by the likes of CTFC and City, etc... but their parents wouldn't move them to a local team because they don't have the name value.
