Thank you Neil, that was a really good watch/ listen as always.

As Dave says ... Tommy O, JJ and Bernard to return from injury ... Kieran to add and maybe even a new signing ... to come.

Fair play to Kieran and the mystery striker today ... they both travelled with the boys and both did the fitness tests and training with Niall. Hopefully we'll hear from the Welsh FA next week to get Kieran over the line and hopefully we'll get the deal ironed out with the other ... we're not yet the finished artical ... we only had four subs planned today, as we hoped Kieran would be the 5th if the approval came in from the Welsh FA in time ... sadly it didn't.

... In other news ... I was told / heard a rumour from a supporter at the game that we had a player being poorly before the game ... I've followed up on that with Niall and Grovsey and it's not correct. We had no one poorly in our camp. Just in case anyone was concerned Smile

Thank you to everyone that travelled and to Big Baz for making the lunches ... not only the team, but for the supporters coach too ... and of course the supporters that brought them.

Thanks all.

Our record against Southport is not great, so to get a draw away against a tricky side is a good result. Well done all involved.
Great interview Neil.

That wasn't easy getting the interview from my camera to my phone to youtube. Took over an hour but pleased it came out unscathed. I'll upload one with Jake Cole soon, I messed it up a bit so have to do an edit.

Didn't get McClure's goal at all but got Young's

Well after an epic 5+hour journey to get there I saw a first half of excellent football, no kick and rush, long hopeful balls plenty of inter passing on an excellent playing surface. As good as I have seen for many a year.
Second half we lost the plot a little bit giving needless free kicks 30 yards out, a few silly bookings, our centre half gave the ball away more times than accurate passes.
No surprise they equalised.
TBH slightly disappointed to only take one point but that’s how far as a Club we have come.
Decent ground, no cover though, enormous saveloy hotdogs, excellent away support appreciated by the players and staff.
New and loan players gelled well so the future is bright.
Jake Cole …outstanding.

Yes. Very impressed. I wondered if he might play second fiddle to Liam but he looks every bit the experienced keeper we need.

In the end, was happy with a draw. Played well first half, seemed to lose our way a bit in the second. Thought Jake Cole did well, when Mensah, James and O Sullivan are all back to full fitness, Paul Groves will have more good options of team changing.
This was my second visit to Haig Avenue, first visit was in 2009, where we missed the first few minutes of the game as the supporters coach was caught up in traffic. Had visions of 'de ja Vu' yesterday as the coach was caught up in traffic/speed restrictions on the M5/M6 at different places. To be fair, we got there before kick off.
I pre-ordered a Matchday Programme for me, Phil Gough and Tim Clark. Used the Click and Collect option on the Southport website. Collected these from the Clubshop. Front cover shows the GCAFC emblem, then on the back of the programme (team line ups), they have replaced the GCAFC emblem with the Torquay United emblem.  Huh
Weather was not quite opening day season conditions, cooler, breezier, and tried to rain.
All in all a good result away from home. Something for the team to build on.

Also a mention about the group that were on a Stag Party, (I think). They were in the away end with us, one of them was wearing a full C********m Town Kit. Apparently, they beforehand asked about sporting events going on around the area, and were told about Southport Vs Gloucester City.
There was Everton Vs Southampton at Goodison Park just down the road.  Big Grin
Going back down the M6 on the GCAFC Supporters Coach, some Southampton Supporter Coaches went past us. The Supporters looked a bit down after losing 3 - 1.

Was the programme worth the effort? Totally forgot about them.
