Gloucester City Women - 22/23 Fixtures - Kitto - 01-08-2022

Should be announced this Friday for both league and cup.

We know that they'll be playing in the FA Cup on Sunday 11th for the First Round Qualifying.

It would be great to get a good crowd down the TigerTurf Stadium if we get a home tie in the FA Cup, especially as the prize money has increased significantly this season - last season's cup run (knocked out in second round qualifying) got us £515 whereas that same run would now get us £2,550.

We've got a real chance of getting promotion this season and we need the city of Gloucester, and Gloucester City fans especially to get behind the team in the same way the country got behind the Lionesses!

RE: Gloucester City Women - 22/23 Fixtures - Stable Lad - 01-08-2022

Over 17 million people yesterday watched The Lionesses beat Germany yesterday in a thrilling Final to a Euro tournament that has been superb from start to finish.  There is no doubt that the history books will show that yesterday was a landmark day not only for our team, but for women's football as a whole.  I am absolutely sure that a lot of you on here would have been watching the tournament and getting invested into our wonderful squad.

The future of the game is bright and it is truly exciting to see just how the game grows from this stage onwards.  Naturally, there is a lot of talk about the WSL, who after all the big 'shop window' for the game in our country.  More and more big WSL games are being staged in the big stadiums; only yesterday I was told that tickets for the Emirates games are selling out as quickly as they are released.

But the world does not stop and start at the WSL.  We have our own very ambitious and talented squad representing Gloucester City in the County League and FA Cup.  Last season we had some fantastic matches, we had our moments of drama and while we may not have had a Russo back heel special, we saw brilliant goals; Beth's goal of the season was not far off in quality to Georgia's blockbuster v Spain....really.

If you enjoyed the Euro's, then now is a great time to make a commitment to yourself to make the effort to come down not just once, but a couple of times, to watch our team on a Sunday.  Yes, your entry fee will help and I am sure AP will be happy to see more footfall in the bar, but it's also about getting behind our team, cheering them on, celebrating the good times and encouraging when things get tough.  As a Club we are at the start of our journey and that win yesterday means we are moving forwards into what is going to be an exciting time for the game.  As Kitto said earlier, the fixtures are coming out soon so get out your diaries and calendars and book a couple of games in.

2022/23 promises to be a hugely exciting one for the Club.  Our first team must have a real chance of challenging at the very top of the league, the Dev team are in a new league and will have some very tasty looking local derbies during the season.  Our new initiatives for younger players and new coaches are really exciting (and are exactly the type of legacy that yesterday's win needs to bring to the game).  I've been down to watch the team train a few times and I can tell you there is absolutely no shortage of determination, fitness work or team spirit.

The next few months are going to be an exciting journey.  As Kitto says lets "..get behind the team in the same way the country got behind the Lionesses!"

It would be great to get a few young families down there so we can start to build a fan base for the Women's team. Face paints, flags, balloons etc can all be provided if it adds to the atmosphere. These games are a great way to get younger kids into football.

And most importantly, you can have a Wild Beer on a Sunday.

Women's FA Cup
First Round Qualifying
Gloucester City v Bishops Cleeve
2pm Sunday 11th September @ TigerTurf Stadium

Would be great to get a crowd down for this one, especially as the financial implications for the women's team winning these Women's FA Cup games are pretty substantial.

A cracking draw against local rivals and at home too. Our matches v Cleeve last season were exciting affairs and with the added spice of the FA Cup this should be a tie to savour.

Get it in your diaries folks. A big crowd and a crackling atmosphere is the order of the day
