Dundee United v Dundee. - Andrew B - 04-08-2024

This weekend, is the start of the Scottish Football League season. Dundee United, who were Champions of the Scottish Championship last season, kick off their Scottish Premiership campaign today.
Their first game is a home match, with a 1:30pm kick off. Amazingly, their first game of the season, is at home to Rivals Dundee. Haven't come across a team that plays their local rivals, in the first game of the season.
For anyone that doesn't know, the Dundee United and Dundee football grounds, are literally a stones throw from each other.

The match ended in a 2 - 2 draw.

best thing is is that there's another ground closer to Dundee United than Dundee's ground.

.

Both sets of supporters very fond of each other, some years ago the council offered in exchange for their grounds, to build them a modern stadium for both to share, both sets of fans threatened to burn the new stadium down if it went ahead, it didn't!

Inter City rivalries are odd, they're all from the same place. Is this related to their different Gods like other places in Scotland?

Yes, I did notice that. Could be the makings of a 50,000 capacity stadium, for them to both play in, if either of them qualify for the Champions League. They will still play at their respective grounds, for league / domestic cup fixtures.  Smile
