So many "super coaches" on super wages over the years and it took an Englishman born in Watford to get England playing and fans connected with the team again, really hope we do it tonight.

Goes deeper than that. Whole new system of coaching children and not just as potential footballers, but as people. Goes back years and years, Trevor Brooking et al have been working on this for 10yrs plus.
Fans (and media) are fickle, just two or three weeks ago Southgate and the squad were rubbish- maybe by midnight they will be again.

Yes I remember the re form on coaching etc using Germany,Spain as examples, But what Southgate has done in the way he treats the players/press has been excellent,A lot of the failure has been from the pressure put on the players.Hes controlled expectations and let the players be thier selves, trusting them,hesbeen a great example of leadership imo , even when there's been problems like the covid breaches of Foden and Greenwood, hopefully will stay with England for a long time like Low at Germany did.

I would along with the rest of the Nation love us to win. All I hope is our final wasn’t winning the semi. Play like we did against Ukraine ( albeit different and maybe better opponents) then we will be fine.
