This is the first league game at Meadow Park for 14 years and the first competitive game with no Covid restrictions. For me this is the real homecoming game, not sure if anyone else feels the same.

Absolutely. Proper opposition too.

They said they'd come when we were back in Gloucester.

We are back in Gloucester.

This is now a strange one to say. The ground has been in operation since August/September last year? Think the first game was Gloucester City Youth Vs Cirencester Town Youth, FA Youth Cup?
The GCAFC First Teams first game was Hungerford Town, preseason friendly last year?
Last year, went to three youth team games, FA Trophy match - Needham Market and did Boston United stewarding match. This year, watched GCAFC women play Welland.
It feels as if we have not had an Official Opening of the Ground Match.
I went to Evesham United's first match at the Jubilee Stadium. Evesham United Legends played a Manchester United All Stars. Man Utd had the likes of Les Sealey, Clayton Blackmore, David May, Denis Irwin, Russell Beardmore, Mark Robins etc. The game was played in front of a crowd of 2,500. Ron Atkinson was in charge of the Man Utd team. Before the match, he cut a ribbon on the centre circle and said a few words.
Will New Meadow Park be Officially opened? The York City game feels like the first game back in 'Normal' times.

Andrew Adebowale, Hannah, Hoskins, Kirkup, Mainwaring, Tucker, Wollen.
 Danny ANDREW, Jake ANDREWS.

First competitive game with no restrictions says it all. And the first time people will have had a proper chance to watch.

PA wise I won't be treating it like a "normal" game, and it would be good if we could organise things like those mini flags again etc. There's no excuses now.

The energy and atmosphere will be something special particularly to those of you who have been through thick and thin these last years.

I think people will come but they need to know the game is on, they need to know the stories and it would be useful to win too.  Sharing the clubs social media posts amougst friends is, it seems to me, one small way of spreading the word and generating more interest.

Social media is just one of the tools we can use. I'm in the middle of making the match poster, have spoken to Gloucester Rugby who will share posts on their social media too, and I'm going to try and do the same with Gloucestershire CCC.

Outside of social media, we really need to get BBC Glos, Glos Live and Severn Sport on board with promoting the game, and generally making our presence known. I wonder whether we could get a poster or two put up round the quays and town.

And then we can do our bit by sharing the posts with people who might not see it on social media. If everyone can bring 1 person to MP for the first time, then I think we're already looking at a crowd of 2-2.5k.

Was talking to Jack pitcher today before a race we were both doing. He said he's hoping to get along to a game soon to see the new ground. Was reminiscing about the Clevedon game at the end of the season where he played against us at Meadow Park, and then the Salisbury friendly just before the floods

Share this as much as possible. Let’s make sure everyone on social media knows what’s going on. That’s one thing we can all do.
