i will congratulate them for getting so far
They’ve been managed well but they have had so much luck in the last 20 years it’s ridiculous,I read the Robins knest after their 0-2 in Northampton and they thought it was over(like myself) but they hammered the Northampton players,if any fans knew the players or the Northampton players had read the forum then Keith Curle didn’t need to do a team talk just a few quotes from their forum!
I think they have a gem in Duff though without a doubt, second toughest defense in England behind Liverpool, that’s pretty impressive.

Aside from promotion as runners up in 1997 please explain all the luck we've had since?

Everything we've done since has been earned by the right recruitment - be that management or players. We've never really overspent (came close in 2009) and, even when the ITV digital fiasco happened, we were one of the few clubs not to be overly effected because we didn't spend the money before it was in our account. That's not luck, that's good stewardship. Is it luck that we had Paul Baker steering the ship for so long - possibly, but I think that's pushing it somewhat.

KC is tactically weak, a lot of Northampton fans have been calling for him to go all season because there is no plan B and he quite often drops players for no reason. However, he can get the players up for a fight when it matters and he's done that again!

Like ourselves, Northampton have had issues with completing building work (the East stand has been left partially rebuilt for 6 years) with the previous Chairman taking a £10m loan from the Borough Council and then taking it to Spain with him. But like us the end is in sight with that saga too.

Most of the luck was due to good management I admit ,If Steve Cotterill And PB hadn’t  existed you would probably still be non league.
Im thinking about all the last minute winners wembley  fa trophy, play off finals etc ( always a part is due to a bit of luck involved) and whenever you get tho the third round you always seems to get a huge Premier league Side and not Aldershot away!
After that day in 1997 when you pipped us to promotion nobody could have imagined the different paths the two clubs would have had to take.

No last minute winner at Wembley - we scored in the 80th minute. We dominated both playoff finals that we won. We've had Reading, Oldham, and Chester in 3rd round games. We got to the 5th round in 2002 without playing a Premiership team.

I agree, the drawing of Spurs in 2012 was a stroke of luck, as was Everton at home the following season. But given some of the shocking draws we've had in the cup, they were probably due.

I was gutted 12 hours ago, but I'm philosophical on these things. We've had a great season due to some great recruitment again. Things are positive for next season. And we're the top club in the County again after letting FGR take that title last year for one season.

Newcastle was 4th round after we beat Carlisle, Oxford and Chester in rounds 1, 2 and 3. Oxford and Chester in replays. I daresay we earned that 4th round draw.
