The Chambers Have Stepped Down

Lee, can you please get these two to shut up - it's doing nobody any good - just agree to disagree and leave it at that - the alternative is pistols at dawn!

Sell tickets and it might help boost the budget.

Don’t worry I’m bored now.

Oh, by the way going to away games doesn’t count as helping the club, cheers.
According to Mike Cook (programme notes) clearly it does.  Mike and the players really appreciate the vocal support, home and away. I wish I could travel to all the away games.

We’ve yet to win an away game all season Smile

My point was that whilst away support is important the club could survive without it

It is a shame there was such negativity in the stands prior to the last couple matches, it was almost like some wanted them to fail. That could only filter through to the players and onto the pitch.

Pistols at dawn will make for interesting viewing on YouTube. The writeup in Sky and the Daily Mail would be interesting too.

This is interesting as you could argue the negativity was caused by the Chambers. I was stunned at the open evening that Patrick and a proportion of fans were accepting relegation. There’s the negativity.  I can’t help think that it had fed through to the players that our current position and relegation were ok.  The mentality at the club has changed in the last two matches.  Those performances aren’t just because Mike Cook’s coaching is finally making a difference, it’s because it’s no longer acceptable to lose.

There’s been a lot said along the lines of “I can’t blame the Chambers for walking” but as Matt said in an earlier post Pat’s programme notes did not read like someone who was quitting. I can’t help feel that EMG and AP felt the whole mentality needed to change and took action.

Just my opinion.  I must admit I was on the fence and didn’t know what was the right thing to do, as I agree that it wasn’t perfect last season and Pat and Nicky had put some good things in place. Why not keep two people in place who were willing to work incredibly hard to put the club on a sound footing, but I think we needed the ‘circuit breaker’ to turn things around.

I don't think anyone has ever heard Chambers accept relegation? He was always quite bullish when I spoke to him, and was confident we had the right manager in place to turn it around.

If he was being blasé about relegation, we'd still have Tim Flowers as manager.
