Big game coming up on Sunday; and you last chance to watch the Glos County League side this season at MP.

Olveston are one of the leading lights in the League this season and I am sure our team would be hugely appreciative of plenty of support and encouragement on the day. Our opponents sit in 2nd place in he league with a 10-8-1-1 record. They have 25 points from 10 games while the leaders, Pucklechurch are on 33 after 11. Olveston have only lost once all season; last week as it happens when they went down 2-0 away to Bristol & West (who we beat 4-1 in Jan). That's a score line that should give us every encouragement. We've played them away in both League and Cup this season without any luck, but we go into this match of the back of an impressive away local derby win last week full of some cracking goals and good quality football. Interestingly while well above us points wise in the League both our opponents and City have score 23 goals (one more game in our case).

Their record this season shows Olveston are a difficult team to beat but what a brilliant way it would be to sign off our first home season at MP. Let's get some of that TEnd noise down to MP on Sunday folks.

Hopefully we can get a few down there on Sunday, especially as there's no home game for the men this weekend.

Very good game this afternoon, City winning 3-1. I think Olveston beat them soundly in the away game so it was encouraging to see City be the better team for a fair bit of the game restricting Olveston to probably just one serious attempt on goal.

Beth in midfield was outstanding and was also very impressed with Hannah at the back.

The other Beth gave City a first half lead before Megan made it two with about ten to go but a late goal from an Olveston corner might've made for a jittery end but for Raikiya getting a tap in in injury time.

I told you we've been making steady progress all season.

Gloucester City 3 Olveston 1

A fantastic result against one of the best sides in the League and thoroughly deserved. We created lots of chances and defended very well. From he starting X1 to the Subs; everybody made a big contribution. Delighted with the result and so pleased for the players and staff.

I'm not in the habit of singling out specific players but just have to say something about Beth Davies who week after week puts in a huge shift in midfield. She never gives an opponent an inch, covers every blade of grass several times over and can she see a pass; some absolute defence splitting passes made today. Lex, our new player, made a very good impression as did Megan who made her debut last week and came off the bench today and really took her chance. Cat's save in the first half was excellent and was every bit as important as the goals scored. There was not a player on the pitch who didn't make a big contribution today

In truth we made lots of chances and perhaps should have added to our tally, though much credit is due to the Olveston keeper who played very well indeed and must be one of the best in the League based on that performance.

Let's put the win in context; before today Olveston had only dropped points twice; a draw and a single defeat. No other side this season have scored 3 against them; indeed they have only conceded 9 all season....and that includes our 3 goals. They are a good side for sure.

The win puts us up to 4th place by my reckoning with 16 points from 12 games.

Not a bad week end for Gloucester City!!
