Thoughts from our WSL travels
#1

Now our Women's teams are approaching the end of their campaigns, a few free Sunday's have opened up to allow me to take my daughter to watch her other side in the WSL - West Ham.  I noticed  few things - good and not so good - on our travels that I wanted to share in case they are of interest to our powers that be.  Crowd wise, the attendance levels of the games we've watched are not a million miles from ourselves so there is a bit of a read across perhaps.

Meet and Greet
Post match one of the big things, particularly for the younger fans, sees a few of the players go pitch side to sign autographs, selfies etc.  It creates a great engagement between the Club, players and fans and costs nothing but time.  Granted, it cannot be easy after you've lost but!  So the game ends, players have their huddle, warm down and a few come over.  Neil took a photo of our new keeper last week who was doing the same. My daughter now has had brief chats with some of her WHU fav's, selfies etc.  For a lot of the youngsters it's a big part of the match day experience home and away.

Sub sponsors
At Birmingham as part of the announcement of the substitution the PA guy says ' substitutions sponsored by XX'  Now it happens the firm they have has a big electronic advertising board advert too, but struck me it's a great way for a firm or local pub, coffee shop to get name awareness but without a capital outlay.  Say there are 5 subs on average a match over a few weeks - that name is going to be remembered.

As an aside, with Neil's kind permission, we printed off a couple of photos of Kate Longhurst who scored for England in that international at MP many years ago, and handed them too her post the game on Sunday (meet and greet).  They were very well received Neil.
