Women v Bitton Ladies (Home)

It's coming home !!

After a summer like no other for the women's game in this country, our league campaign starts off this Sunday.  It's a big season for the club as a whole as we now have two teams competing in the Gloucestershire County Womens Football League.  Our 1sts are in Division One and this year, for the first time, the Dev team are in Div 2.

First up at the Tiger Turf are Bitton Ladies 1st team.  Kick off is at 14.00 and entry is FREE.  It's the first time the two sides have met (I believe).  I've seen first hand just how much hard work and determination has gone into all of our pre-season work and I know the team would very much welcome all the support you can offer them.  If you can, please try and come down to cheer the team along.

The Dev team open their campaign with an away tie - albeit not very far away - when we travel to play City of Gloucester

Finished 2-2, took a while to get going but when it did it was all City towards the end. Chloe Golding played well in midfield and scored the first equaliser, Beth Smith with the second.

A really enjoyable watch especially after Saturday's misery. The visitors were more physical but a tactical switch and a couple of substitutions saw City begin to take the initiative and by the end could have won though 2-2 was a fair result.
The player of the match award went to Beth Smith whose power and dynamism helped turn the game.
One of the Bitton players suffered a nasty looking injury after a clash in midfield... do hope she is OK.
Spectators included Bernard Mensah looking happy and fit, and currently scoring for fun at Redditch.
