So it seems that a rugby team called Wasps are set to leave their current home at Coventry with suggestions they might move into Worcester who've just gone pop. I believe Wasps have only played at Coventry for a few years since they moved there from the London area.

The fans must've been furious at that, you know, just like what happened when MK Dons relocated from Wimbledon.

No? Course they didn't. Because rugby doesn't matter.

And Wasps own the Coventry Building Society Arena, so I wonder if current tenants Coventry City will look to buy the ground back?

Incidentally, Coventry already had a second division rugby league side (who groundshare with Coventry United), so I think Wasps appeal was always going to be limited there.

Regardless of your thoughts on rugby Neil, there are a lot of players and back room staff that are now looking for new jobs, in what is a salary capped market. Yes the big name players will find new deals but the rest wont. It's sad for those involved.

Wasps invested to grow and for one reason or another (not jut Covid) it didn't work. I can imagine that their fans are livid given that a lot of them didn't want to relocate from London (QPR ground) to Wycombe Wanderers ground and then on to Coventry an area in the first place, to an area that already has a rugby team and Leicester, Worcester and Northampton close by.

To the rest of the rugby community. It didn't make much sense but I think they saw a chance to move into an empty stadium which had potential for growth and have a player catchment area that wouldn't be competing with the rest of the London clubs.

I think the ground is not part of the deal so we'll have to wait and see what happens with Coventry City. I hope they can continue to play in their home city rather than Birmingham where they were recently, as we all know what it's like to play in exile.

Pardon my complete ignorance of things Rugby. I was talking to my Cousin last weekend, who is a Gloucester Rugby supporter. I asked her with Worcester and Wasps not involved, is the Top league literally playing with two Clubs out? She said yes, so I guess Clubs during the season will have four blank weekends. Do Top flight rugby play midweek? Don't seem to come across many midweek fixtures.

Yes the fixtures against Wasps and Worcester are now blank weekends. If some rescue deal appears they may be allowed back in to honour the remaining fixtures, what the means for the games they missed, who knows?. Personally I can't see that happening. Especially with all their top players moving on.

Gloucester held an open training session and a meet and greet when they were supposed to be playing Worcester last month.

I noticed on the BBC sport pages that some of the other Rugby Premiership clubs have filled those gaps by arranging games against the Barbarians an invitational side made up of international players, which should get people along and provide revenue for local business, which are also impacted.

There aren't many midweek games anymore, there used to be second team games midweek and anglo welsh games which were always good to watch. I think that the creation of league rugby put pay to that and the demands on the modern game means they don't play twice a week anymore.

It's all sad for a sport that provides employment and enjoyment to thousands of people.

I think it was Shandy who had a signature that said "football will eat itself" I think Rugby will go the same way if it gets too money orientated and other leagues having no salary cap, I could go on but this is a football forum.

Thanks for asking.
