how many do w e still have out, Hooper, Spence, Diege plus? also i think Jack Hill should be given a chance, has played really well when he has come on. There is some talent in the youth set up surely!

When Kingy was appointed I did read he didn't buy in to developing youth at Dartford so it seems its not his thing, given the probable reduction in budget next season its likely that Jack Hill and perhaps a few others may become a more integral part of the squad and get more game time even from the bench.

Then there's Leads, Nugent and Dada.  And 5 matches in 15 days starting Saturday.

They should get time if they are good enough. If they aren’t good enough they they shouldn’t. It’s that simple really. No team at this level ever got promoted on the strength of their academy unfortunately.

I'd go along with that, it would be lovely to have a continual stream of home grown talent coming through the ranks, but like you say achieving success of the back of an academy at this level is a pipe dream at best.  Any truly good youngster is going to end up at one of the nearby bigger clubs unfortunately.  The youth coaches obviously put in a lot of hours and I am sure do a great job, but I would see the main benefit of a decent youth structure being community engagement (an u12/13/14s player today is hopefully tomorrows fan etc), and obviously you hope to get the odd Tom Webb now and again, but to rely on it would be crazy.

I never suggested playing youth at any cost, but having no bench and not giving a chance at all isn't right either. SK has history not developing youngsters aka Dartford but of course not at any cost.
I just think there's nil point having academy sides just for feeding lower league clubs but that's my opinion.

TM2 #14 RJS and Severnside all of you imo make very valid points imo - RJS your point about community engagement is again imo spot on. The skill I suppose is to try and blend a few 18/21’s into the team but at our level you cannot - and this is not being disrespectful to Jack Hill and others - hide players which brings in TM2’s point either you are good enough or you are not.

Who would be a manager.
