But they’ve been there and we haven’t. Are we meant to feel superior because instead of spending a load of in the NL we instead spent a load of money in the NLN?

If Alex has given King more money to spend then for me Alex agreed to that increased budget so in my view the budget is now being cut. Obviously his money and he can do with it what he likes, but let us not forget he has put money into Plymouth via sponsorship recently.

If AP had given a million pounds to the club as a gift  before he left , you still would have found some way to have dig at him .
Most people in his position would do the same IMO  Most on the forum know your views on  AP and fair enough ,but be fair to the
man he put his money in to the club and now he cant , I'm not a business man but don't think if if I wanted to sponsor my firm that I would pay from my own private account surely it would come from the company account .
Oh before you say I thought the sun always shined out of APs you know what ,I didn't??  Some things I did like and some I didn't  .
AP did a lot to get the club up and running after the biggest disaster this club has ever had to  go through, COVID being HOMELESS  a
SEASON being cut short .Plus player's being poached , and yes he did. make mistakes in appointing a couple of manager's that didn't work out ,but we all make mistakes don't we ?
To me AP  and  Em Did a great job keeping this club alive and left with the fans with more hope then ever .

Thank you both .

So have Harrogate, Stockport and C********m amongst others, but they’re not there now.
Without ambition to progress, what’s the point in taking part?

They did come to start with and then stopped because the football was so bad last season. This season clearly the match day experience has been shocking at times as well. There is so much competition for peoples money that if you don’t deliver you may only get one or two chances. The fact covid happened didn’t help Alex to be fair, but in hindsight he misjudged when to make the gamble and then hired groves after Rowe left which was a disaster.

Alex doesn’t like it when the attention isn’t on him and the fact King is so well loved by fans must really hurt him. As I said at the time hiring King was the best thing he ever did at the club and I personally put that above the ground yet he’s made a complete mess of it

No. I'd love to see us progress, I've been waiting a long time seeing others pass us by. At the same time I've also seen others go pop and we never have. One thing that never changes is the amount of money it takes to win, that never comes down.

What else is there to do in Gloucester on a Saturday afternoon?

Personally I’d rather see us play in Gloucester managed by Harvey Price than go to Evesham to support us under anybody, but each to their own.

Ultimately I think this can be pointed to as one of the reasons why things haven’t worked out as hoped, as well as us turning professional. It was stated at the time that it felt like running before we could walk, and I think time has showed that to be the case as we’ve been left with expensive players on contracts who aren’t playing and a basketball team that went pop and another that can’t win a game.

There must be some way that the basketball is worthwhile doing (such as kids classes) but I can’t buy into the fact it’s not been a distraction.

The remit was get us home and see where we can go from there, we’ve done the first bit and now if the Chambers’ are looking to send us back to part time and do things more sustainably I think that’s the right way to go and probably how it should’ve been done to begin with - then move onto professional and other sports.

On the point of Gloucester people not supporting us, I only partly buy that because our first couple of games with fans were well attended, and then we dropped that stinker against Kettering and followed it up with a 9-0 defeat so I can’t really blame people for getting put off by that.

Regarding promotion, let’s get up and worry about being competitive when we get there! At worst we get a trophy/playoff win to remember forever. I remember the talk of how we’d survive at NLN level and we’ve managed it.

Given the size and population of Gloucester, there is no reason why the club shouldn't be an EFL club, let alone an NL club. Exeter is a comparable city in size, in a county with other NL and EFL football teams - and they compete for spectators with a Premiership Rugby club as well. Get promotion and the numbers will come. We saw it at the beginning of the season following the Covid null and void season when we were top of the table. People were attracted to games by the club's success - only for it to be scuppered by Paul Groves disastrous tenure the following season.

Every season, we watch other clubs come up and pass us by, then sit back and say we're building for the following season, with new manager after new manager and no real building or consolidation taking place. It's true that we've been in exile for a long time, which gave us no base to gain promotion. AP has left the club in a far better place than it was before he took on the task, but we're past that stage now. Let's hope the new owners want to go up too - and if they do, that means keeping hold of SK. If we end up with the Hungerford manager and their former players I'm off to watch Tuffley Rovers.

We could field the legends side from Sunday and still be considerably better than Tuffley. Smile
