As someone who has spent the past 3 weeks working 10 hour days tracking CoViD-19 cases in Gloucestershire and predicting the demand for hospitals beds in the coming months, I can confirm that the above opinion is true.

Well done Joe. I gave you the clap tonight

Indeed I have.

Good clapping round here. My kids loved it. I'm not moaning about the 10 hour days - I'm just glad I'm not a doctor or nurse. They're in for a brutal time.

Is Gloucestershire any worse than other areas of the country though?

C********m always said they didn't want to have it behind closed doors, which clearly would have been an option at that stage. My guess is C********m would have been insured against it not happening, but would have lost a lot of money if there was no crowd there. I know Aintree for example were insured for losing the National.

I must admit I was surprised that numbers held up as much as they did, but then given how many people were out the following weekend shows that plenty either didn't care or thought it wasn't going to effect them. I also thought it was going to be called off the week before as I could see where things were going, but it is the Government's fault for not putting these measures in sooner.

Put it this way mate - we were about the lowest county in the South West for total cases the week before the races. The week after, we were the highest.

Keep up the good work Joe.

So, as a boffin with inside knowledge, I have just one question for you to answer. Is this the end of civilisation as we know it?

The surge in cases in Spain happened after the protests for International women’s day on the 8th March and a champions league match the same day with an Italian side( I think) eñThere
Were 3000 cases in Madrid in the 7th which went upto
4500 the next day(of known cases)the big problem started when Madrid and Cataluña went into
Lockdown and they all started to leave central Spain
To go to their holiday homes near the coast therefore
spreading the virus.C********m races should never have happened and health should have been more
Important than money, the Uk should have used
Italy and Spain as an example of what could happen
But didn’t...My parents were in Benidorm and flew back
On Monday the 17th with they should never have been able to even fly out but as someone else said “ money talks”

PS - I like how the word C********m is automatically banned from here with the *!

The match was Atalanta v Valencia which was played in Milan and Atalanta are from Bergamo in the North the worst affected region by a long shot.
As I said myself and Corporate were working in C********m that week and it was just a disaster waiting to happen..
