MBG scored Marrow’s consolation goal in their 6-1 drubbing at Totton.

Sticking around a while yet, thanks to a gift from a generous angel.

I think that’s 33 or 34 goals for him this season. What I’d do to have him in our team.

I course I would. He got 18 goals in 24 games for Maldon and Tiptree season before last and has consistently found the net this season. Is it his ability or the standard of opposition. Young Crosbie was similar but failed to replicate his goal scoring at a higher level. The same it might be said of KP albeit he has been hampered by injuries. As I said above- worth a punt certainly.

He’s definitely worth a punt, but would he want to come to us? One would think he’d have his choice of Step 3 teams and I wonder if he’d get the service necessary to replicate his rich vein of form?

Perhaps I’m overthinking it.

“ I wonder if he would get the service…..” Therein imo is the biggest issue with KP his asset is finishing from close range as he did twice against Swindon Supermarine but he is asked to compete for high balls against 6ft plus defenders which isn’t his game.  You would have thought we have enough creative midfielders in HP KD etc not to have to hoof it and play to our forwards strengths.
Britton is 6ft 3 so him alongside KP?

KP is crying out for a partner up front; a good old fashioned ‘target man’ if you will. I think Britton would be a great partner for him and I’d love to see it happen; I just don’t see it being a style of play that Cookie favours.

If we sign him he’d still play one up top and use them interchangeably.

I'm sure that someone has said that we tried. With him I get the impression that he's had a go at the football career thing and is now probably just enjoying his football with his mates. He was at Chorley too after leaving Bristol City but don't recall him making much of a mark there.

There may well be more than an element of fact in what you say. Big fish small pond etc. Lets not forget a full career in football isn’t for everyone for a host of reasons . Enjoy a game stay local and not to far to go home is all some want.
Which makes me ask would he want to give that up to come to us.

Brian Godfrey died 15 years ago today. Probably the most successful City Manager in most of ours' lifetimes.

I remember being on grass the pitch in trainers, singing E I E I E I O, up the Beazer League we go, and being drenched in Champagne the day we won the League. Absolute legend. RIP Brian.
