Sounds disgusting. Funny how there was no trouble in any other match so far this season. Alex needs to stamp down on it fast before it gets out of hand again

Better to try and prevent it though. For the 2nd half the two segregation gates were employed, but individuals were still allowed to pass through to go to the bar. An informal segregation policy means less bars/food bars are needed whilst providing some element of control. At some grounds we go to we are told the one end is for home supporters only. I think it would be better that way at MP, so with the segregation gates closed you just explain to away fans that they’re not allowed through. Obviously for bigger crowds or where police recommend it then full segregation kicks in.

Doesn't cost much for a decent CCTV system, stick a few cameras up, any away fans that start something can be identified and reported to their club, and same with the home fans.
As for the stewards, they are sometimes young, and I assume all volunteers? It's no wonder they don't fancy getting involved, and only turn up 5-10 minutes after something has already happened. A few weeks ago (Warrington maybe?) one of the stewards came across to tell someone off for vaping, and as much as he did seem like a moaning jobsworth, he got bonked by a plastic cup thrown at his head. No need for it, CCTV would show who threw it, whoever is in charge can deal with them as they see fit.
I don't want anyone kicked out and I don't like those sorts of measures, but if they can't behave? It's always "they started it, not us", so they wouldn't worry about CCTV proving it?

I wasn’t being critical of stewarding yesterday btw - I meant to amend my post. Fair play to the young volunteers who stood between two sets of fans for a fair bit of the game. In hindsight it would have been better to say “sorry Braintree fans, you haven’t done anything wrong, but for everyone’s safety we’re asking you to head back down the other end”. But easier to refuse them in the first place than to have to shepherd them away.
Again, at away games, you often see stewards literally placed just to watch the away supporters. We can’t afford loads of stewards so need to police things where we can as fans, but think it is best to keep everyone apart. I know a lot of supporters say “but changing ends is part of non league” but first and foremost we need to protect our reputation.
