(19-11-2023, 02:48 PM)T-End is in sight Wrote: Better to try and prevent it though. For the 2nd half the two segregation gates were employed, but individuals were still allowed to pass through to go to the bar. An informal segregation policy means less bars/food bars are needed whilst providing some element of control. At some grounds we go to we are told the one end is for home supporters only. I think it would be better that way at MP, so with the segregation gates closed you just explain to away fans that they’re not allowed through. Obviously for bigger crowds or where police recommend it then full segregation kicks in.
You raise some very valid points. I agree you go to the likes of Kidderminster ( albeit we don’t now but just an example before I’m corrected!!) where u are allocated a section of the ground end of - no straying to get a pint etc - controllable. A million miles from our standard the away fans at Newcastle are up in the clouds - with I’m sure ample facilities suppled controlled.
It really is a judgment call - speaking from experience— do we liaise with the visiting clubs in relation to the stewarding/policing required? Do you want to prevent visiting fans spending their money on food and beer ?
Segregation for all home games is the answer but do u open the away end food outlet for a few dozen visitors and possibly make a loss taking into account wages etc. - difficult. This was one of the reasons why the bar under the score board was created and the away end furnished with a food outlet to try and prevent any possibility of confrontation.
Sadly the club gave into a vocal beer swilled minority who insisted the purpose built away end now became the TEnd . The intention being home supporters in the new TEnd were allowed to leave in the event of any away fans hostility leaving the away fans within their segregated area .How ironic home supporters were held back on Saturday !
Fonzie you also raise some good points but as above typing from experience CCTV brilliant but you then need to create a “control box or similar “ which needs professional manning “ bearing mind upon such footage someone could lose their liberty.
