Supporters Trust Statement

Are you seriously suggesting that the National League was giving a Trust, one which has no operational control over the entity it supports, £50k a year to spend on "Community Activities" but the funds were used to make the payroll of an entity they had no control over, and to honour a contract that they no legal obligation to?

This reads like an episode from the Muppets.

No wonder things are a bloody mess.

Sorry if that wasn’t clear enough.

Oldie, I was trust chairman as well as Matty at the time when we received the money for work in the community from the National League. We had an excellent programme thanks to Jim Hart who ran it alongside his day job. I'm sure Brandman would vouch for us being one of the best examples in all 3 leagues at the time; we were punching well above our weight.

I bet Trev still has the accounts from the time if you want to see how much we got and what it was spent on.

You seem to think the trust was a collection of crooks fleecing the league and supporters out of money, it's getting a bit tiresome "Les".

We all know the trust is clear as crystal. Just need to find a way to reconcile with AP like MC has, all work together or the Trust will have to run a club on its ass in the southern leagues. Up to you...

This is a bit of a bizarre post to be honest. I don't think our NLN survival hinges on the Supporters' Trust, no matter how much support they're providing.

Unless you're aware of something we aren't, why would the Supporters' Trust be running the club in the Southern League?

Absolutely not.
I am interested because I am interested in how effective Trusts are. Both in terms of representing their members and at the same time influencing how the club was / is run.

That's all, nothing personal.

It’s a two way street…we are waiting. The trust has said it wants to support the club, but things need to change I think we can all see that. One things for sure, if the club ends up in the southern league the trust will still be around to pick up the pieces again.

I like the statement and have a lot of time for the Trust, and think they're more important than ever for navigating us through a tough period off the pitch.

One question for clarification though - as well as calling for a meeting with the powers that be in an open statement, did they also contact those powers directly?

Good. Thanks for clarification.

I'll be disappointed if the owners can't forge a positive relationship with the Trust. Both are essential to salvaging some sort of success out of this season.

On behalf of the supporters it's right that the Trust seeks answers regarding the future stability of the club. The Chambers appear to have been faced with debts they didn't expect when they took over. Questions are, what was the nature and amount of debt? Have those debts been repaid? And if so, who repaid them? It's private business stuff, but must have an impact on the playing side that we paying punters turn up to watch.
