MC said this is the most inconsistent team he has ever worked with also a few just aren't up to the standard of NLN but he also stated he won't add to that, budget permitting I'd expect a couple more movements of players as a final roll of the dice......

Mike has had to try to build a new team with restricted finance in comparison to some other clubs - only four of the team that started the season are still with us? The analogy is like trying to build a boat when you're already at sea. The problems/issues seem to be:
1. Availability of quality players at this stage of the season
2. Will they come and play for us? - and if not, why not?
3. Finance - money is said to be available but is it enough in comparison with other teams?
4. Injuries/end of loan deals to key players who are replaced by players of lesser quality or experience.

As Mike said there are going to be highs and lows. Problem is we'll be playing teams at the other end of the table soon and it's difficult to see where we'll pick up points.

Our issues this season all boil down to putting a manager on a two year contract without having the assurances that we could actually afford to keep him for the duration of the contract. And the reason we didn’t have those assurances boils down to setting budgets without knowing what our income was going to be, going back to before we came home. Our chickens have come home to roost I’m afraid.

That's the root of it all affecting what happens on the pitch. The rails were coming off even as we went into the playoffs last season. In the meantime, MC has to deal with the situation as it is, which is beginning to look desperate.

Agreed, this season of struggle was signed off when we brought King in on a 2 year deal and then pulled the plug weeks later. Those with a short memory (who were actually singing for Alex to leave last season) were quick to blame the Chambers for where we are now, and Patrick admitted they made errors (what a novel thing at this club) such us appointing Flowers, but ultimately we heading the wrong way before this. Arguably you could even say the decision to go professional, or starting up Sport brands was the beginning of it as well - running before we could walk.

Absolutely. What a madness that was.
