If non-contract, and only costing us when he plays, and potentially available again in 4 weeks, then it seems an odd decision to me. He has been the standout performer in that back line, and its not even close.

If on the other hand he is costing us whilst injured then I can potentially understand it, as we need our meagre budget being spent on people who can play.

One thing is for sure though, the pitchforks would most definitely have been out in certain quarters if this decision was taken under the Chambers (as others have already pointed out).

The mental gymnastics some people are prepared to go to defend the current director (note director not owner as not a majority shareholder) is astounding

“There’s a mole. Right at the top of the circus. He’s been there for years.”

That's a surprise seeing BRE released. I didn't know that he was non-contract. As much as I'd like to see eleven players like him in the team, he's clearly a good, experienced defender, we've still been conceding goals far too often with him in the side. No doubt we can put someone in there who'll still concede goals but on half as much money Wink

In fairness Ram and SH did well when he wasn’t playing- maybe stick with them and bring in a quality forward.

Can't believe we've released BRE. One of the best defenders I've seen in a City shirt. Disappointing. He was walking round the pitch carrying his daughter on Saturday so not sure how bad his injury was.

I overheard snippets of a conversation he had with Jamie Reckord in the stands, and whilst I wasn't particularly following what was being said (it was a private convo after all), nothing about the tone of the interaction suggested a player who expected to be out for a long time, or was going to be leaving the club imminently.

Ram is out with a hamstring injury now isn't he? Duffus is back though.

So with an interview on Twitter Cook has confirmed that BRE was on non-contract but he is suggesting he would have been out for 6 weeks, which is rather at odds at what the player has said in a Tweet this morning.

In the past couple of weeks we’ve lost BRE and Jeacock, our two standout players this season. Things feel really grim now.

Gutted to lose BRE, echo all of the above.

We shouldn't give up, we're still well in the fight which those two away wins dragged us back into. But we do seem to be clearing the decks, so to speak.
