Probably because they have to switch their GPS trackers on inside their vests before heading onto the pitch

Don't think it's sports science - I thought it was just so they couldn't be confused with an "on field" player?

Which is why I don’t know why they don’t have their shirts on under their tracksuits or whatever they wear now on the bench. 

I get annoyed at how it delays a game when an injured player is waiting to come off but the sub has to put virtually their whole kit on.

A few years ago the subs would be all kitted up and ready to get straight on. Now it’s like they need 5-10 minutes notice to get ready!

Good job it's not my better half that's coming on as sub. She needs a couple of hours to get changed and would be constantly asking Cooky if 'this looked alright'!
