If he'd come of course snd assuming Merthyr dont go up via the play offs.....
I don’t see any reason to come here over Merthyr

Going way back to pre season I think he was a name many people mentioned for the job (no idea if he was actually ever in the running), and would have got my vote personally.  Remember some saying at the time whether we'd be an attractive enough proposition, given Merthyr consistently compete at the right end of step 3, attendances are good, and presumably budget is at least comparable to ours.  I can't see that the comparison between the two clubs would have got any more favourable since that time as well, so can't see that one happening.

Depends what the budget is, doesn't it always.
In fact with that attitude you could say that about ANY player come to that.

As I said on the other thread, last time round I don’t think we had a single application from a manager who was currently in work. We aren’t a big draw.

Strikers shouldnt always be judged on goals, hold Up, play , Flick ons etc all important parts of the Game, the key is they fit into a Style of play.

Yes I do know good managers don't apply they're headhunted, managers that apply are generally out of work and you end up with Flowers sadly I doubt anyone owning this club TODAY is willing to headhunt as per Rowe.
MC was in effect headhunted but had unfinished business with us, that said he's had an impossible task with the cutting of budgets.
Clearly we aren't the financial draw these days footballs a funny old game

It's not relevant now, but when we advertised for a new manager pre-season, other than Tim Flowers, who were the other contenders? If there were any? Having made the play-offs last season there must have been some interest? Or was our reduced budget a deterrence?

I believe David Oldfield was the only other serious contender. Peter Beadle was rumoured to have applied too. The rest were coaches but no significant management experience.

Oldfield is now working for the Crystal Palace academy. He did a good job with Oxford City but things obviously not right at Weymouth. Apparently his time at Weymouth was chaotic but not sure if that was down to him, or the set-up behind the scenes there. If so, frying pan to fire if he'd ended up with us.
