Who would you like to stay...

Knowing we’d be pretty much certain to be relegated, I found it a bit difficult to engage with this thread.  I don’t know anything about the SPL, the quality of players required to be competitive there, or how realistic it is to hold on to players from the current squad to play in a league below.

But if we were staying up, I’d want to keep:

The current keeper
Ty Duffus
Harry Pinchard
Josh Smile
Joe Hanks
Theo Robinson

I’d also crawl on my hands and knees to Bromsgrove and beg BRE to come back.

I'd like to think we should try and assemble a side to to play in the SLP that could be competitive in the NLN given the budget available. It's a dangerous game settling for players that you think would be ok a level lower. AFC Totton proved that!

I'm sure Hamilton will also be here, if he can get fit close season he will be fine in the SLP.
Emmett also was OK before his injury should do well in SLP?
Forward line needs a total revamp given our inability to create.

As others have pointed out I think there are a number of players you'd potentially keep if we were to drop down.  However, won't we be seeing another drop in budget following relegation - what impact would that have?  Lets assume we were completely happy with our current squad, could we even afford to keep it at the level below?  Are we going to have to accept a further drop in the pool of players we are looking to recruit.  Or am I being overly pessimistic?

A drop down need not mean a much lower budget as if and its a big if we perform and start winning we could get gates of 800 plus people want to see a winning team at any level.
Less long trips shoukd also assist.
My guess is we will however get a reduced budget but until the owners actually communicate who knows, they certainly won't release any budget figures s players will drive for more money but I guess the proof will be in summer recruitment process, with luck we will have half a squad rather than just a goalkeeper who didn't play in the end anyway.

Surely it's the job of the players behind them to create. It's the forward lines job to put the ball in the net.

Surely it’s more a question of who we can afford rather than who we want !!!!!!!

I really don't see why. There are clubs in the SPL who get crowds a quarter, or a fifth of what we have turning up at the moment to watch us get beaten most weeks. Beaconsfield sit in mid table and they had a crowd of 80 at one game this season. If our gates stand up, with the bar and catering revenue that brings, if things are done properly we should have an extremely competitive budget for this division.

Edit.
I appreciate that's a rather large IF.

I was under the impression the club gets paid a flat fee for bar and catering, is that due to change? Because if that's the case then yes we should be able to boost the budget quite well from those sources.

Why would you want to keep any of the players that got us relegated?
