Agreed, which is why I don't think Cook is blameless this season.

I think it depends on what the Club wants. If it's decided for sustainability in the SLP, then a budget cut could be on the table. I would rather us try to bounce right back and actually increase the budget.

Bearing in mind that our present squad of players are going to get us relegated, the rose tinted spec time is long gone.
We are where we are because all season the squad haven’t been good enough by some distance!
If we keep the nucleus of our squad we will be mid table at best.
It all hinges as it always does
1. Budget
2. Contracts
We bearing in mind even when a full time squad scraped a flukey play off, could have finished 12th.
I really worry about next season.

I get the impression from Cook’s interview that he was trying to get the point across to the players that next season won’t be a formality, we’ll be the big fish and teams will want to beat us, and in not so many words saying that if you aren’t up for it then here’s your chance to get out.

We get such a high turnover of staff at the club that we aren’t very good at learning lessons. In fact we’ve not really learnt anything in 30 years, here we are again about to go down after a few seasons of trying to run before we can walk. I hope the lesson is finally learnt this time.

Spot on, I did say to you at the pre season friendly with Coalville that the signing of DW,HW and JP had the makings of relegation.
That was before we made even poorer signings.
You would only hope that behind the scenes someone has the nous to unravel whatever problems financial or otherwise exist.
I suspect it may be a while before we return to where we should be.
