We did that last year and got relegated. It didn't improve us at all, it made us shite.

I have to agree with Dave. At 16, he needs exposure to regular playing time in order to develop. A loan spell will improve him and us over the long haul.

It will but why are other teams obliged to give games to our players when we aren't?

Because the chances are he’s a player not good enough for our level, but good enough for another level. We get a player developing, he develops, and the other club get a good player on the cheap.
They’re not obliged, but the other club wouldn’t take him on loan if they didn’t want to play him??

Does everyone really think that these players have attributes /20 like in Football Manager? Essentially they're all kids who've never played adult football but did well at a trial for a certain club.

All these youngsters we get, have our management team watched them in depth and decided that he'd improve our team or are they just signed on word of mouth? Everyone is expecting an upturn on last seasons shitshow but it seems that they are determined to make the same mistakes again!

I’m not sure where you’ve got the idea from that we will be relying on loan players? MC hasn’t suggested that, he’s said we’re looking to sign 3/4 more players and then bring in some loan players to fill the squad out, like every club does. We’ve had some very good loan players over the years, and we’ve also had some not so great ones but that’s the gamble you take. You don’t get the finished article and there’s some inconsistency but they are an inexpensive way to provide bodies on the bench and to cover for injuries etc.

Last season I think it was more a case of necessity rather than choice - we didn’t have money to spend on new players so we had to bring in loans. I seem to remember MC saying something along the lines of wanting to help Brandon Ligget’s development, but I really don’t think that we are prioritising that over the success of the team. It’s just part of the deal that you get a cheap, reasonably competent player who could provide some moments of quality, and the parent club give their player some experience of mens football.

Are EFL academy players likely to be better than our own academy players? Yes, I don’t think that’s a controversial statement? All of the current squad started at football league academies. If we can also bring through some hidden gems from within our own academy then even better, but don’t forget David Beckham was once on loan at Preston and Harry Kane was at Norwich…

why would he want to help the development of a different teams player? is that the purpose of this club?

Because by doing that the parent clubs will keep wanting to send their players here? What’s hard to understand? Do you think we’d have got Beresford if we had taken Jeacock and not bothered playing him?
