About a year ago I asked Ryan Butler to name a few players at lower levels that could “do a Harry Emmett” and step up for us. The first name he mentioned was King, and considering the sheer amount of football he watches in Gloucestershire, he may not be wrong!

Welcome King, let’s hope he never reads this COF as it’s bad for anyone’s moral.
Let’s give him a chance to prove himself.

Allow us to have a crumb of hope for gods sake!
Of course the proof is in the pudding but we all watch a lot of football don’t we, so clearly we have the ability to collectively recognise something in him that indicates he has talent. From what I’ve seen in King his best attribute is his confidence - he hasn’t been afraid to shoot if there’s a possibility of scoring, and he hasn’t been afraid to take on his man. He’s taken his goals really well, he’s shown he can finish and his movement has been good so with the creators we have in this team I’m hopeful.
Above all, the idea of finding a gem in the lower leagues and them having a successful season is one of the great joys of football imo.

Our opinion of the player doesn’t really matter. It’s Cookie, Macca and Brough who have seen something in him. In terms of what we’re realistically likely to be adding to squad at this stage in pre season then it’s likely to be players from lower leagues.

I think it was Dave A who put on another thread that he brought something different to the forward line. This I totally agree with. He might be small in stature but has excellent upper body strength and he’s very quick over short distances a nightmare if u are someone of BRE’s stature. F rom what I have seen he’s able to create chances and make things happen.

Getting the contact is a skill in itself and one we’ve been sorely lacking
