Walton & Hersham home

We were caught out a bit today.
W&H defending in numbers gave little change to our attack which was pretty ineffective.
Hanksy looked jaded, not the best game by Elis.
Decent goal by Ed and I thought a draw would have been a fair result.
As others have said our keeper Bell was outstanding, two worldly saves second half.We need him to stay!
Great attendance, still all to play for.

Not stopping them playing their routine out from the back was so so naive from us. Every single time, the ball ends up on their right hand side and they cause us problems. They couldn't play that routine down their left and that's where we should have forced them to go, instead we just charged at them head on and allowed the passes. That was their entire build up and it worked almost every time!

On the flip side our build up was slow and ponderous, with little clue how to break them down. They defended well for the most part although their keeper had a few dodgy moments. Ultimately we didn't test him enough, Ellis Watts certainly tried to make something happen but it was one of those days. The deflection off the free kick fell nicely to Ed Williams and I thought we might press home the advantage if they came at us, but it didn't happen. Luke Bell made some really excellent stops, it probably would have been more if not for him. Their striker who came on was decent.

Can't deny it, that result feels like a real kick in the teeth.

As mentioned on this thread and other threads from previous games, our opponents sat back and defended in numbers. I’m sure these teams have done the same against Merthyr and Totton yet they still manage to score goals. It is clear, and has been all season, that we lack a goal scoring striker. Until that problem is resolved we will continue to struggle.

SadOn that showing, although we should get to the playoffs, as two of our former players said after the match, we're unlikely to win them.

MC implies in his post match interview ( as honest as he always is ) that Jared will not be fit for a while so the club have asked Coventry to extend Bell’s loan.

I really think we may well finish 5th looking at our run in compared to those around us.

I think I saw the best save I've ever seen! Will have to wait for the highlights for confirmation!

Ye they did that really well, we went for the second and they broke through the middle, Dawson played very well, what a save by Bell in before they got the second, top clas.

I thought he might try and set Up not to concede after they gave us a few warnings, they used the width well on the break, we were commiting a lot forward, like someone said with an in form striker we may have got the second top Kill off the Game

If only we had a more potent attack. We have to find a way to score more goals or promotion will be an unachievable dream.
