Away from home we have drawn with Merthyr, drawn with Totton, drawn with Walton and we lost to Dorchester who we would be unlikely to face away from home anyway. So to say if we get an away tie we can kiss any promotion hopes goodbye is crap.

Ah I must've misunderstood that a draw was needed to win a play off fixture away from home against the teams around us. Based on the league table as of now the highest placed team we've beat away from home is Gosport in 12th but happy to be corrected.

I'll be at Havant next weekend having only been to Parkway and Hungerford away this season, I'll reassess my comments after that.

We should have beaten Merthyr, we were in front at Totton and came from 4 down against Walton albeit in barely playable conditions. Whilst Cook tactics wont win us a title they could well win us a play-off.

Do you mean on penalties? Because we've already proven this season that we're not really a cup-tie team, (something that was said to me by two City legends that I was talking to after the last home match). The playoffs are basically cup-ties.

Yes on pens. Play-offs are very different to your normal cup ties though in my view.

I suspect it’ll be a season (like the King one) that’s remembered for its outcome rather than the journey. 

This encapsulates it.  Everyone will remember the madness of that Chorley game, but at times that season it actually wasn't all that good (Darlington at home was particularly bad if I recall correctly).  Playoffs papered over the cracks for me, we were seconds from finishing 12th. Many will disagree but I was never that impressed with King.

That said Chorley did happen, and is almost undoubtedly the highlight of returning home, and football is so often about moments, so unless this season produces something similar to finish off the season I think you'd have to go for 2022/23.

The saddest thing about that was that we got to the playoffs and knew that we were going part time the following season so losing at Brackley was meaningless
