We simply did not have the money. In fairness to the Chambers they did their best to clear some of the historical debt. The current board were frightened to open the post in case another monetary demand was lurking.
A fair budget was set allowed imo a pretty reasonable team to be assembled whilst other income chipped away at the skeletons which kept appearing.
Its careful husbandry really you can’t spend what you haven’t got.

To be fair, I don’t think we can be complaining about the budget anymore. We’re one of 2 clubs in this league to definitely have crowds averaging over 1,000 which is significantly higher than the league average. Also, on paper, almost the entire team have dropped down from higher leagues. They won’t be on little money.

It’s not like the exile days where our budget (along with Curzon and Leamington) was about 50% lower than the next club. Back then we were very much the small fish in a big pond. We’re the big fish in this league with undoubtedly a budget to match.

We’ve a budget that should put us in the play off positions. Arguably we should be a place or two higher but we are in no way the big spenders who should be steamrollering the division, however nice that would be.

I’ve no real issue with the play offs as the final position, it’s more the lack of plan B away from home that disappoints me.

Looks likely we’ll have two games to put that right, but I won’t be mortgaging the house to back us to up.

Yet, you never know!

Sticking around a while yet, thanks to a gift from a generous angel.

Like Gladfans says we need to re build how we are viewed as a club to move forward and changing the manager may not help that, if we Didnt need to do that then maybe a change would help, would imagine MC has a clause in his contract that making the PO IS an automátic renovation.

I doubt it given when he joined we weren't even in this league. From what I saw on Saturday and from what others have told me I think he has lost the dressing room. I think the quality in the side has seen us finish in the playoffs but some of the performances have certainly been lacking and there has been an element of fortune in some of the points we have picked up. I think even if he wins promotion we will be looking elsewhere for a manager next season. I've also been told that he is on a pretty big wage for a manager who is only part-time and that we could do better for the money we are paying.

I don’t see any reason why people shouldn’t feel and act like we should be the big dogs in this league. We are the biggest club in the league, we've got one of the biggest budgets, we’re one of the best supported clubs, I’m sure we’ve got the biggest population to draw from etc. I don’t see it as a crime to want to do better than scraping a playoff place or hoping for scrappy draws at places like Chertsey.

Our rivals are in League Two, our local vegan neighbours could be at Wembley again in a few weeks. Those are the clubs we should be striving to get near, not mucking about in a league with villages in.

Wanting it and thinking you have a God given right to expect it are very diffferent things.

Absolutely nothing wrong with wanting it, the real question though is - why aren't we getting it?

I'm equally disappointed that teams haven't given us a guard of honour when we enter the field of play this season.

Sounds very much like my final school report Darran, it quoted ,could have done so much better if  he had bothered to turn up to school more often .
Sadly no one took him in hand to make sure he. attended school more often. Bit disappointed after getting six GCSEs but it was true i did used to bunk off school as much as I could. I hated school with a passion and maths even more . Couldn't  wait to get. Out of the place and start  work.
Mr P Abraham form teacher.

Still got that report from sixty years ago just to remind me of the time that I Did at that school
