Next Season

Mention of MC's position. He took us to the playoff final. We could have won. Had Mike been able to get the players he tried to sign, we may have done better in the league, but think Merthyr would have still been top. So if Mike wants to stay, then he should. Obviously if he thinks he can do no more or gets an offer elsewhere, then that's up to him.

One thing that no one seems to have mentioned is compared to the mess of last season, the stability at the club this season has - at least to the average punter, been admirable. No behind the scenes shenanigans, so all to build on next season (budget provided).

Well we have had 5 transfer embargos so yes in some ways the club is more stable, but in others it isn't for whatever reason.

Ultimately this season has ended as a failure on the pitch. No cup run, and no promotion.

The manager was given everything he wanted with the aim of going back up. But we’re here for another year. That’s not me belittling the league but when you get everything you want and don’t deliver the results…

Not even getting a home playoff was an abject failure.

It would seem a stretch for the Cross/Crosbie season end situation to be blamed on previous regimes. Think the football secretary needs to up their game.

Not receiving permission from parent clubs to play in the final isn’t something City can control.

You expected us to finish 2nd?

I thought we might've been in trouble for playing Emmett on Wednesday but apparently his red card had been rescinded.

Ordinarily I think I'd say you don't sack a manager on the basis of losing a one off play off final game but the game seemed like a microcosm of our season. Quite a bit of nice stuff played without actually be threatening and when it needed something a bit different we looked devoid. Sometimes you just get a feeling that as commendable a job a manager might do they'll never quite get you where you want to be. That's how I feel with Cook.

I must admit for the first time this season I thought Cook out managed the opposition manager on Wednesday. Doesn’t mean I think he should stay though.

I was all over that given what happened to Stockton but was told that this had been the case so didn’t need to worry
