I’ve spent the past week or so compiling all sorts of data and statistics of ticket sales but I thought I’d share a few with you because it’s actually quite remarkable.
Our average crowd has increased from 918 to 1,066. But more impressively, our home support has increased from 733 to 1,015! Our home support has gone up by 283, and we’ve actually decreased the average age of people buying tickets.
If we took last seasons average away support with this seasons home support, we’d be averaging 1,200!
It’s also the first time since 1996/97 we’ve had 9 1,000+ crowds, and 8 of those have been since Christmas. Our average home support isn’t far off a local side trying to get to the EFL as well!
I wanted to let you know, because off the pitch things feel so much better and even if the the team can’t finish off the job, the club is in a different place now to 12 months ago. Our support is growing, and we’re connecting with the lost generation at last. The foundations of the club are growing strong, and that sort of thing will keep us growing for year after year.
It’s taken a remarkable amount of effort by a lot of people to get to this stage, with so many people going unnoticed and doing countless hours away from the 90 minutes on the pitch.
Even if this year isn’t the year, I have no doubt that brighter things are coming for Gloucester City, the sleeping giant is waking!
