Impressions of our first trip to see The Queens
#1

We decided to go and watch the Queens last night.  We know nothing about basketball and the last live match I saw was a good 40 years ago at the old Gloucester Leisure Centre so we headed off not really knowing what to expect.  Thanks to the help of the COF we found the Arena; goodness me what an impressive place.  Lots of parking and easy access too.  We bought tickets in advance but it looked like it was possible to pay on the door; there was a bit if Merch available too.  The Hall they play in is bright and spacious.  There are some seats courtside but we headed to the 'Stand' which gave an excellent view of the game.  The atmosphere was good, the loud hi tempo music works really well.  I guess the crowd was about 100 - just a finger in the air guess.

As for the game.  Fast action is not the word! End to end stuff and in part thanks to the commentary, it was easy to pick up what was going on even for a total novice like me and we soon found ourselves cheering for our team.  Looked very skillful to me and while the particular match was not that close (the Queens lost but to be fair to the team that are top of the League) there were some moments of excitement and a few loud cheers for our team.

Roary made an appearance and there were cheer leaders too.

Did we enjoy it?  Absolutely.  Will we go and watch again? Absolutely.  At £5 a ticket it's well worth going up to give the experience a try.
