Wrexham v GCAFC - FA Trophy - 18/12/2021
#21

Their main aim is obviously promotion and they have been to two Trophy finals in their time in non-league so for the fans I can understand why they wont care. I don't think the manager will care given he's never been in non-league before, but I can see the chairmen caring and it would be good for the documentary. I would be surprised if Mullin played though which is obviously good news because he is a serious finisher. My guess at this stage would be they will put out mainly fringe first team players.

Interesting that they all seem to want to play "the kids" but one reminder that a good Trophy run for them will make for good documentary fooage.

On a couple of all League forums I frequent, the overriding feeling from those teams that are "traditionally" Football League teams (the likes of Mansfield, Wrexham, Bristol Rovers, etc...) is that the FA Trophy is one of the reasons you don't want to get relegated to non-league.  I've even seen one Mansfield fan say they were glad they lost the Trophy final to Darlington a few years back because of how embarrassing winning it would be.

Wrexham are no worse than the others - aside from the fact they've been in the National League a lot longer.

For what it's worth, I love the FA Trophy and consider it a crucial part of our route to where we are in the League now.  Not only did we win it in 98, but the defeat in the semi-final in 99 gave us the rocket to finish the season strongly and we were promoted 5 days later.

Lose at home to Yeovil, 0-2. Poor defensive performances, individual errors & a red card…sounds familiar.

Liam McAlinden red card was for an elbow too, so that’s a 3-match ban.

Apparently Wrexham are considering offering a contract too Jack Wilshire.

Wrexham fan here . Hope you don’t mind me coming on here but would just like to put you in the picture regarding our opinion of FA Trophy. We won it a few years back in what was a fantastic occasion we took over 18.000 there that day and it was magical . But as every non league club in the country keeps pointing out we have been here a long time and just want what every team wants.PROMOTION. The last thing we want is a run of rearranged games ( Yeovil away on a Tuesday night ) Most fans won’t be bothered if we get beat (strange I know ) but good luck to you all who travel up. Crowd wise think 3.000 tops . Best pubs for The Turf next to the ground and across the road the Maes Gwyn which are both away fan friendly I’m sure you will bring a good following and you will get a good warm Welsh welcome. Enjoy your day and good luck in the future
